Art & Emotion: Writing & Painting (Year 5 & 6)
This full-day workshop invites students to explore the exhibition Set States, featuring the imaginative and sometimes humorous work of Australian artist Kate Mitchell, alongside selected pieces from the Wollongong Art Gallery Collection. Through the lens of Mitchell’s art, students will reflect on how we feel, act, and play, and how art can help us understand ourselves and others.
Guided Exhibition Tour
Led by experienced gallery guides, students will engage critically with contemporary artworks.
Art Critique Writing
Students will write responses to selected works, with a selection professionally printed and displayed in the gallery.
Abstract Painting & Collage
Students will create expressive abstract artworks inspired by the themes of movement in Kate Mitchell’s performances. This hands-on session encourages personal reflection and creativity through painting and collage techniques.
