Natural Dyes on Silk Workshop
Create a naturally dyed beautiful silk scarf using eucalypts and other plant matter from Gadigal and Dharawal Country, with Ngugi artist and academic Stephanie Beaupark. This workshop will be followed by a tour of the Recollection exhibition featuring all the bark paintings from our First Nations Art collection.
Stephanie guides this hands-on experience, drawing on her practice that straddles the art and science of eco-dyeing.
You’ll learn about the importance of listening to Country, explore natural dyeing techniques, and come to understand how seasonal shifts shape the colour and character of the materials themselves.
Silk scarf and all materials/ tools provided. Participants should bring a plastic lidded container to take your damp scarf home to dry.
This workshop is 16+.
Tickets are essential. Book your ticket via Eventbrite.
