Primary Enrichment Programs
Step into a different classroom and enjoy a full day of visual arts at the Gallery! The Enrichment Program is a wonderful opportunity for students with a greater interest in arts to enhance their skills and develop a deeper understanding.
This specialised school program for primary school students helps foster creativity and engagement with art through discussion and production.
Our Enrichment Program has places for a limited number of students per school, and bookings are essential!

What the program involves
Each school term will focus on a specific exhibition in the Gallery. The day usually involves the following:
- Our education staff will take students through the selected exhibition to learn about the artist/s and their practice, themes and concepts.
- Exhibition-based drawing activity, writing activity or worksheet created by our Education team.
- In most programs, there will be an accompanying workshop. Students will have the opportunity to make their own art piece in response to the exhibition.
Our activities are aligned with the NSW Primary Schools syllabus outcomes.

Booking information
Group sizes vary, however there will be an allocated number of spaces available per school.
Please check the specific program to confirm the number of places available for your students.
Some Enrichment Programs are free of charge; however, some will incur a cost depending on the activities/workshops included.
Check each program for specific details.
If there is a cost, in line with new Education Department policy, you will need to pre-pay by credit card. We will email you payment information when your date and numbers are confirmed. Please note we cannot change numbers after an invoice has been generated.
If payment before attendance is not possible, you will need to send us a Purchase Order number so we can send the invoice to EDConnect, to be paid before attendance.
There are limited spaces available per school. We strongly encourage you to book your students places as soon as the program becomes available.

If your request is accepted, we'll send you a booking confirmation with information to help your visit.
Once your booking is made, we will send you a confirmation along with Council's risk assessments covering safety while at the Gallery.
Arriving
Allow 5 -10 minutes at the beginning of your visit for the Gallery introductions. Please be punctual as tours and workshops are scheduled for specific times. Late arrivals may result in a reduction in the number of artworks viewed and the shortening of practical workshops.
Please report to Gallery front desk and advise Gallery staff of your arrival. The Gallery Guides and / or Education Officer will meet you in the foyer area.
Bag checking
Bags must be checked in. Gallery staff will advise where to leave bags. Please make sure students have all they need with them (including medication) before they move into the Gallery’s exhibition spaces.
Art diaries, worksheets and lead pencils
Students are encouraged to bring art books to make notes and reflections in. For unaccompanied and self-directed tours, if you have prepared worksheets for class activities, clipboards and lead pencils are available for students to use. Please advise numbers in advance.
Please note
We have a minimal waste policy and ask that packaging of food items brought to the Gallery are minimised.
