A Gentle Response includes past and new work by artists who were inspired or impacted by their relationship with late Illawarra artist and educator Ian Gentle.

Some are his former students, others fellow artists who came into his wild orbit. This exhibition also includes works by artists who played a role in Ian’s development as an artist.

The works are accompanied by written recollections, anecdotes and stories from the artists as well as some rare recorded thoughts and words by Ian himself.
