In Essence: Contemporary Photography and Film from the Collection

30 November - 23 March 2025
Gallery 2; Gallery 3
This exhibition explores the intersection of light, identity, and the intangible. Through a compelling selection of digital and film-based photo media, artists address pressing political and environmental concerns, cultural knowledge, dreamscapes, and the complex fabric of identity.
The works in this show harness light to capture ethereal images - wisps of smoke, fleeting gestures, veils of memory, and distant landscapes. These images evoke the essence of our shared and individual experiences. Each piece invites the viewer to look beyond the surface, to engage with the delicate threads that shape our world and our sense of self.
Artists include Riste Andrievski, Pat Brassington, David Capra and Teena, Katthy Cavaliere, Stephen Dupont, Will Edgar, Anne Ferran, Lesley Goldacre, Warwick Keen, Tracey Moffatt, Simone Rose, Joanne Saad, Robyn Stacey, Christian Thompson, Jemima Wyman, William Yang, Anne Zahalka.
