Edge City
Elvis Richardson
28 March - 18 October 2026
Edge City unfolds across two connected chapters, beginning with a focused survey of recent and key works by Elvis Richardson. Richardson examines the built language of settlement and suburbia—its fences, thresholds, materials and protective gestures—drawing attention to the seductive surfaces and underlying tensions embedded within everyday domestic settings. Her works act as pressure points for a companion collection exhibition, foregrounding the suburb as a site of negotiation between control and openness, aspiration and constraint.
Drawing on works by local and regional artists, the companion exhibition expands this enquiry, exploring suburbia as a shifting edge—between city and coast, domesticity and industry—and revealing how identity and ambition are shaped through place, particularly within the context of Wollongong and other growing regional centres. Edge City offers a meditation on the transformation of place, inviting reflection on how change can cultivate belonging, resilience and creativity within our everyday environments.
Collection artists: Judy Bourke, Bianca Hester, Derek Kreckler, Christopher Zanko, and more.
