Here + Now 5: There’s No Place Like Home
Curated by Matthew Grayson

13 September - 23 November 2025
HERE + NOW 5: There’s No Place Like Home explores the complex, multi-dimensional idea of home as both a refuge and a site of conflict. It highlights the tension between home’s nurturing aspects and the discomforts it can bring. Home shapes identity, memory, belonging, and loss.
The selected artists delve into these themes, from personal memories to broader sociopolitical issues like migration and cultural displacement. Whether through depictions of domestic spaces or reflections on nostalgia, the exhibition addresses how home can be both a place of security and vulnerability. In the context of global upheaval and shifting identities, the exhibition invites viewers to reconsider the meaning of home as a space in constant flux, shaped by what we embrace and what we leave behind.
HERE + NOW is a biennial exhibition series celebrating the creativity of local emerging curators and artists under 30. This iteration will be the last in its current format before the platform is revitalised in 2027.
Presented by Wollongong Art Gallery.
