Painterly Landscapes with Rob Howe

Year 10 and 11 Visual Arts students will begin the day with an introduction to Transience Atlas by artist Rob Howe. This will be followed by a guided tour of Edge City: Elvis Richardson and Ballard of the Burbs: Nicci Bedson, exploring representations of local landscapes and suburbia through contemporary art.

For the remainder of the day, students will work alongside Rob Howe to create their own landscape painting on board using acrylic paints, learning practical techniques in composition, colour and light. If time permits, students may also complete a still life painting.

Program Highlights

Artist-led introduction to Transience Atlas with exhibiting artist Rob Howe, providing insight into contemporary landscape practice.
Gallery Guides conduct exhibition tour of Edge City: Elvis Richardson and Ballard of the Burbs: Nicci Bedson, examining representations of local landscapes and suburbia in contemporary art.
Hands-on studio workshop where students work alongside Rob Howe to create their own acrylic landscape painting on board.
Skill development focus on composition, colour, and light through practical painting techniques.
Extension opportunity to complete a still life painting, time permitting.
